Capt./Dr. Augusta D. Roth holds a Master Unlimited – Oceans, along with a MBA and DBA focusing on leadership and business operations. She has decades of experience in the maritime industry with over 20 years focusing specifically on maritime education and regulatory consulting. She has distinct experience with all the various State & Federal Maritime Academies, International & National regulatory agencies, and Continuing Education at Texas A&M University at Galveston.
Her career facilitates her abilities to interlink the complexity of a professional maritime industry with the academic rigor of a Tier 1 University. She joined Texas A&M at Galveston in 2000 as a lecturer and currently the Director of the Office of Continuing Education and Maritime Transportation Full Professor of the Practice. She is the primary designer of the Maritime Simulation Facilities, Shoreside Seamanship Lab, and Navigation Labs at Texas A&M University at Galveston. During her tenure in the Academy, she maintained 5-year national audits with mid-term internal audits for both
the STCW operations and 5-year audits for USCG Program Approval, while teaching various Marine Transportation courses such as Seamanship, Terrestrial, Celestial, & Electronic Navigation, RADAR/ARPA/ECDIS, Rules of the Road, Bridge Resource Management, Maritime Leadership, and more.
She continuously provides maritime service by actively participating in the Council of American Master Mariners (CAMM) as Secretary/Treasurer, International Maritime Organization’s Human Element, Training, and Watchkeeping (IMO-HTW), MERPAC, MEDMAC, SOCP, and other maritime organizations. She also serves on Sea Aggie Former Student Network as the Campus Liaison and Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts.
